Soybean meal is a high-protein fodder product obtained in the process of oil extraction. When oil is extracted from soybeans using organic solvents, a mass containing a lot of minerals, amino acids and proteins is formed.

Soybean meal of several types is produced from the obtained mass:

• alimentary soybean meal – for production of soybean flour and protein

• feed soybean meal – for direct inclusion into the diet of the animals and production of the mixed fodder

• powdered soybean meal – in the form of a uniform loose product

• granular soybean meal – in the form of granules of various sizes for facilitating packaging and transportation

• toasted soybean meal – after heat and moisture treatment

Soybean meal is used for feeding most types of farm livestock and fish. Its share in the diet may achieve 30%.

Due to high protein content and a unique amino acid composition, soybean meal provides a balanced diet, being a source of phosphorus, calcium, iron, vitamins E and B.
