Barley is one of the oldest cereals. It can grow wild or be cultivated by humans. The plant is unpretentious: resistant to low temperatures and drought, it can be cultivated on any soil.

Barley is divided into winter and spring varieties. There are more than 40 species that are classified according to the number of fruit-bearing spikelets, density, hull content of grain and other parameters.

Barley is used for the production of cereals, flour, in the brewing industry, as well as for animal feed.

Barley is used to produce pearl and peeled barley groats. Pearl groats are produced from whole grains by its cleaning and grinding, and during the production of pot barley groats grain is released from the film and crushed. The barley groats retain fiber and other useful properties due to the lack of grinding in the production process.

Barley flour can be of two kinds: wallpaper and sown flour. It is often used in combination with other types of flour.
